Cultural Heritage
 |
Heritage has become a major concern for contemporary companies, which too often in the past, tend to veer towards preserving objects, confining this area to a few niche sectors such as art or architecture. The thinking since has evolved to the hypothesis that heritage does not belong solely to objects, but also to processes and steps, which are the fruits of human activity from the moment they are embedded into memory, between transmission and reception, legacy and heritage. Heritage does not therefore concern any one industry sector but embodies a particular mindset.
Cap Digital aims to breathe life into projects and initiatives relating to subjects as varied as artistic design, records of craftsmanship and know-how, cultural archives, scientific reports, etc. From this perspective, the cluster sets about to address problems organised around three broad questions:
- Strategy: How can we digitise content and knowledge to preserve it, creating records for the long term?
- Issues: How can we manage social, economic, educational and cultural digital heritage? What are the key issues and what is at stake?
- Outlook: How can we restore and integrate digital heritage within social life for the mass public and incorporate it within larger world communities?
