Cap Digital at BETT 2008

BETT 2008.jpg

The French BETT (British Education and Training Technology) 2008 stand represents Cap Digital, the French Ministry of Education, the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP), the Val de Marne regional development agency and ten of the leading French companies in the educational sector. Cap Digital will be represented by Patrick Cocquet (Thursday), Philippe Roy (Friday), Alain Chaptal (Wed-Fri), and Gaelle Couraud (Wed-Fri).

Participating in BETT will be an opportunity to: compare our pedagogical and editorial methods with Great Britain, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and India; determine if we have a common definition of digital educational resources; compare the leading Anglophone pedagogical resources with those of France and elsewhere; meet up with BECTA and BESA and compare approaches, goals, methods, and means; verify if the claims about the spread of new technologies overseas are myth or reality; assess the use of new technologies by Anglophone teachers; present our French expertise and “French touch” to Anglophone publishers for the production of online manuals, online references, creation of scientific activities, and FLE shared online work spaces. Each of these domains will be represented by at least one leading company in the domestic market; support French digital editors’ access to the Anglophone market; discover new aspects of e-Learning and research on new uses in education and adult education; find out what methods Anglophones are using to support continuing education

The e-Education commission is the only national commission on e-education and adult education in digital technologies.

Why attend BETT With 90% of the learning and teaching technology industry concentrated in the Greater Paris Region, our commission, constituted by experts from the industry’s research labs and businesses, is highly representative.

• Four years after the EducNet (Espace Numérique des Savoirs) project led by the Ministry of Education and Research,

• With nearly 100% of the secondary schools having Internet connectivity,

• Highly developed French pedagogical resources, and

• Several years of targeted action from the major industry players to maximize technology in education,

• We think it is time to assess the market and implications of educational digital technology beyond our national borders.

Members of the commission are naturally drawn to BETT, the world’s largest educational technology event bringing together all of the field’s Anglophone players that target a worldwide market.

The Stand for France This is the first time that a French delegation will have a stand for France, and it will be represented by Cap Digital. The Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cap Digital Paris Region, the Val de Marne Regional Development Agency, and PM Conseil, with the support of the French Ministry of Education, will be representing the sector and opportunities in the Greater Paris Region.

• Ten or so French companies will share a stand. These include: Auralog, Edu4, Edumedia, les Editions Nathan, Encyclopaedia Universalis, Infostance, ITOP, Hachette Livre-KNE, Maxicours and Paraschool.

• The consulting group PM Conseil motivated a French presence at BETT 2008 and is the principal coordinator for its participation
