San Francisco: Digital Sister Cities
In April 2006, the Mayor of Paris, accompanied by a SME delegation led by Cap Digital Chairman, Jean-Pierre Cottet, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Mayor of San Franciso to support the development and promotion of the digital sector in each other's cities. This sealed their pact as Digital Sister Cities to encourage and boost reciprocal knowledge-sharing and best practices in the digital industry, between Silicon Valley and Ile de France.
Within this context, Cap Digital and the San Francisco Digital Media Advisory Council (DMAC) expects to initiate a pilot project covering 3 key aspects:
- Technology : Create a multimedia co-production platform that will enable companies in the two cities to work on the same production (film, video games, cartoon animation ...) in real time.
- Training : Deploy and share projects aimed at social inclusion by way of digital technology apprenticeship of marginal neighbourhoods.
- Community : Create "a learning community" between the 2 cities among neighbourhood youths and students specialising in the media and artistic fields.
